The initiative titled “Puppet Play: Empowering Islands and Coastal Areas” is implemented within the framework of the 6th Cycle of the “Points of Support” program, co-funded by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, the TIMA Charitable Foundation, the Captain Vassilis & Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation, the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation, the Costas M. Lemos Foundation, the Public Benefit Foundation for Social and Cultural Work (KIKPE), The Hellenic Initiative Canada, the Athina I. Martinou Foundation, and the Bodossaki Foundation. Our action falls under the theme of “Social Innovation in Small Coastal Local Communities,” and is sponsored by the Athina I. Martinou Foundation.
The purpose of our initiative is twofold: to inform and raise awareness among students about marine pollution and the protection of the sea and coasts, and to promote artistic expression, the empowerment of schools in island regions, and networking among them through an artistic activity. Through puppet workshops, educators and students from island and coastal areas across Greece, both more and less remote, gain access to an artistic activity through which they will acquire knowledge and develop various skills. Additionally, through our initiative, we aim to enhance the mental health of students through emotional expression using the power of theatrical puppet
